Amanda Covalt

Amanda Covalt, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
Amanda received her Bachelor's in Psychology from Penn State University in 2011 and her Master's of Social Work at Widener University in 2020 with a Trauma Certification. She has worked in mental health since 2011 in group homes and then as a group activities therapist at a Partial Hospitalization Program. She is trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). She has an interest in working with those who have a history of trauma, PTSD, DID, anxiety and depression.
When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family or just relaxing at home.

Melanie Bentzel

Melanie Bentzel, M.A.
Melanie received her Bachelors in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2018 and her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Towson University in 2021. She has worked in the mental health field since 2018 at a domestic violence shelter and then as an Outpatient Therapist. She has interest in working with those that have a history of trauma and with members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
In her free time Melanie enjoys hiking and taking her dogs to the dog park.

Brittany Breighner
Brittany received her bachelor's degree from Wilson College in Chambersburg PA in 2015 and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from McDaniel College in Westminster MD in 2022. Brittany has worked in Outpatient Mental Health since 2021 and the Human Services field since 2016 as a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Instructor and as an Employment Training Specialist for individuals with disabilities.
She has an interest in working with those with a history of trauma, anxiety, physical health concerns that interface with mental health, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and members of the LGTBQ+ community. When not at work, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family, pets, horseback riding, and singing.

Monica Leroux is a Licensed Social Worker specializing in work with children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 5-26) navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions. Having navigated her own experiences with anxiety, depression, and ADHD, Monica brings a unique level of empathy and understanding to her practice. She is passionate about supporting clients during the critical periods of identity development and emotional growth, helping them build coping skills, develop self-awareness, and work toward their personal goals.
Monica's approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based. Drawing from EMDR, DBT, CBT, and culturally sensitive practices, she helps clients build trust, promote safety, and develop the resilience needed to heal and grow. Monica values cultural humility and works to ensure therapy honors each individual's unique background and experiences. She is LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care to all clients.
Originally from Southern Colorado, Monica met her partner in Fort Collins before relocating to Pennsylvania. She earned her Master of Social Work from Pennsylvania Western University in 2024. Outside of therapy, Monica loves live music, hiking, camping, reading, and spending time at the beach. Fun fact: she's a huge Harry Potter fan.

Jennifer Godfrey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 26 years of experience in mental health, specializing in work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, PTSD, adjustment challenges, and autism spectrum-related needs. Jennifer brings 16 years of specialized experience in the autism community, including certification in Functional Behavioral Assessments and interdisciplinary training through the University of Vermont's ILEHP program. She offers particular expertise supporting individuals on the spectrum and parents of children with disabilities across the lifespan.
Jennifer's approach is rooted in unconditional positive regard, treating each person as a human rather than a diagnosis. Drawing from IFS, CBT, somatic work, trauma-focused care, and solution-focused therapy, she helps clients build practical coping skills while developing the capacity for self-reflection and growth. As a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Jennifer incorporates breathwork and mindfulness practices to help clients calm their nervous system. She is a Gender Affirming provider and LGBTQIA+ affirming.
A first-generation college student from a working-class family, Jennifer grew up in northern Maryland and south central Pennsylvania. She earned her BA in Human Services from Franklin Pierce College and her MSW from the University of Vermont. Outside of therapy, Jennifer loves live music and has attended dozens of concerts, builds community wherever she goes, and has traveled cross-country four times—three of them with nothing but a map and a dream.

Rachel is a trainer and speaker providing education on trauma treatment, EMDR and Entrepreneurship. She is also the Founder of Trauma Specialists of Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist and an Approved Consultant for EMDR Therapy, as well as a trainer, offering EMDRIA approved EMDR trainings nationally. She brings 26 years’ experience as a therapist and is the owner of The Trauma Specialists Training Institute. Rachel is passionate about treating trauma, specifically using EMDR to heal our communities. She is also curious about innovations in mental wellness, leading her to develop The Mental Health Entrepreneur Podcast.

Sarah is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland and a Board Certified Counselor (through NBCC). Sarah has over 8 years of experience working in the mental health field. Sarah has extensive experience working with diverse individuals of all ages and families who have experienced trauma. She is passionate about helping individuals cope with medical trauma as well as helping families navigate adoption and the foster care system. Sarah is trained in EMDR, Neurofeedback, and offers Alpha-Stim treatment.

Tiffany has been working in the medical field in various roles for the past 20 years. She strives to provide superior customer service to everyone she meets. She has extensive knowledge of all phases of medical insurance and enjoys helping people understand their medical benefits and working with insurance companies to resolve any issues.
Tiffany actively volunteers with her church, within her community, and co-runs several PTO committees at the school.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family. She is a coffee enthusiast, enjoys cooking, and loves the beach.

Katie has worked as a licensed counselor for over 13 years. She is an EMDRIA certified therapist, clinical supervisor, a consultant-in-training for EMDR and is a site supervisor for Lewes and Milton locations. She enjoys working with individuals of all ages, specializing in trauma. She supports parents and families in finding more connected relationships. Katie has a special interest in complex trauma, attachment, dissociation, and perinatal trauma. She values LGBTQIA affirming care. She incorporates a strength based lens, partnership, creativity and humor into her work.
Katie is the Business Development Director for Trauma Specialists and our sister company, Trauma Specialists Training Institute. She is passionate about connecting with people in the community, supporting other businesses that align with our values and creation of services and businesses that promote healing. Claire is excited to be a Client Care and Intake Specialist at Trauma Specialists. She brings several years of experience supporting families in crisis through emergency housing services in Frederick, where she developed a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and client centered support. Claire is currently pursuing her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at McDaniel College and is passionate about providing a welcoming, compassionate first point of contact for clients seeking care.
She is also interested in the administrative side of behavioral health and brings strong organizational skills and a commitment to service. Outside of work, Claire enjoys biking, playing frisbee, and spending time with friends and family—especially anything that sparks laughter and connection.

Christina Christiansen
Christina is married with four daughters and currently resides in Carroll County, MD. She has an associate degree in both Health Information Technology and Psychology Concentration. She has a significant history in the medical field from being an EMT for several years to working for both a primary care practice and a mental healthcare provider. Her favorite hobbies include spending time with her family and the animals on the family farm and watching her kids compete at karate tournaments.
